ALK-Abelló today launches GRAZAX®, the tablet-based vaccine against grass pollen allergy, in Sweden.
The Swedish Pharmaceutical Benefits Board has decided that treatment with GRAZAX® is eligible for full reimbursement under the Swedish pharmaceutical reimbursement system. The Board evaluates among other things whether new pharmaceuticals will benefit society by evaluating the price of the pharmaceuticals relative to their effect on the health and quality of life of patients.
The Benefits Board has evaluated GRAZAX® vis-à-vis both traditional symptom-relieving allergy medicine and injection-based allergy vaccination. Against this background ALK-Abelló expects that those patients who do not experience satisfactory results with symptom-relieving medicine can initiate treatment with GRAZAX®.
The pharmacy purchase prices for GRAZAX® in Sweden are in line with prices in Denmark, Norway, Germany and the UK where GRAZAX® was previously launched.
